Drake dropped his latest track “Push Ups” yesterday (April 19) in response to Kendrick Lamar’s recent verse on “Like That.” Following swiftly, Drake has fired another shot with “Taylor Made Freestyle.” This new track, shared across social media platforms, kicks off with verses mimicking the voices of 2Pac and Snoop Dogg, courtesy of artificial intelligence. Drake then steps in with his unaltered vocals for the third verse. Find “Taylor Made Freestyle” on X.
In the opening verse, the AI-generated 2Pac calls out Kendrick Lamar, urging him to respond to Drake’s challenge. “Kendrick, we need ya, the West Coast savior/Carving your name in hip-hop history,” the voice spits. “Disregard this Canadian light-skin, Dot/We demand a clear-cut West Coast victory.”
Continuing the narrative, the AI Snoop Dogg questions Lamar’s authenticity while also pushing him to engage in conflict with Drake: “I know you ain’t done no time, or rocked orange jumpsuits and shower slides/Never pulled a trigger, never wielded a blade/Never inflicted harm on anyone, it’s your crew that boosts your rep/But now’s the time to assert your dominance on the West/It’s a moment to assert your influence.”
To wrap up the track, Drake takes another jab at Lamar while also giving props to Taylor Swift, Lamar’s collaborator on “Bad Blood,” who coincidentally dropped her massive double album, “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,” just hours before Drake’s “Push Ups.” Drake expresses frustration at the delay caused by Swift’s album release, teasing, “Now we gotta wait a whole damn week ’cause Taylor Swift’s sitting at the top/And if you plan to release, you need her blessing.” Later, he acknowledges Swift again, recognizing her dominance in the music industry, quipping, “Shoutout to Taylor Swift/The real heavy-hitter in the game right now/You see, I had to adjust my schedule when she made her move.”
Artificial intelligence has emerged unexpectedly as a significant element in the ongoing clash between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Recently, TikTok personality Sy The Rapper contributed to this trend by releasing an A.I. rendition of a Kendrick Lamar diss track, successfully deceiving many on the internet.
